Ethereum Layer 2s take off
Base managed to process 106.24 organic transactions per second (TPS) on Nov. 24, the first L2 to do so (other L2s managed similar volume in organized stress tests, but not organically). This volume made up 27.8% of Etheruem’s total throughput for the day. Starknet is the first L2 to launch native staking of the STRK tokens. Holders with at least 20k STRK can solo stake to secure the network and earn rewards. You can watch our video explaining staking if you want an update on how it works.
Tornado Cash un-sanctioned
A US Appeals Court ruled that the Treasury exceeded its authority by sanctioning Tornado Cash's smart contracts, as they aren't property and can't be owned or controlled. This decision doesn't impact other Tornado Cash cases, such as those against the creators. While the smart contracts remain on the sanctions list, they remain illegal for US residents to use. If removed, their use would become legal again.

Dealer Rule thrown out
The US SEC's dealer rule would’ve required more crypto players to register as dealers—people or companies that regularly buy and sell securities, like stocks, for profit. The Blockchain Association and Crypto Freedom Alliance of Texas fought back, saying this overstepped the SEC's authority and hurt innovation. A federal court agreed and struck down the rule.

Aave chooses new oracle
Oracles bring real-world data to blockchains (you can watch our video about oracles here). Aave, a platform for lending and borrowing crypto, already uses Chainlink’s oracle, but now is expanding to use Chaos Labs' new oracles to manage risk automatically. Aave’s risk system sets rules like how much collateral is needed for loans and when liquidations happen. Chaos Labs’ oracles constantly update these rules based on market conditions, keeping the system stable and protecting users from sudden risks. Before this, the risk system needed to be updated manually by Aave DAO members, so this will be much more efficient.
