Solana Foundation removes sandwich attackers

The Solana Foundation has removed several validator operators from its delegation program because they were involved in sandwich attacks. In these attacks, a malicious trader manipulates transaction prices by placing orders before and after a pending transaction, ensuring other traders get the worst prices.

Cardano’s Chang hardfork to begin testing phase

Cardano's Chang hard-fork brings Plutus V3, which introduces advanced cryptographic tools, including zero-knowledge proofs which enable more secure and private transactions. It also supports better interoperability with other blockchains. The hard-fork will also enhance Cardano’s governance features.

Ethereum’s Pectra update news

Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade might be split into two parts due to its complexity. The upgrade includes nine confirmed improvements (EIPs) and aims to enhance Ethereum’s performance, security, and efficiency. Key features involve Verkle Trees to reduce storage needs, better staking processes, and new tools for developers. This could be one of Ethereum’s last major updates, setting the stage for more stable, incremental changes in the future.

Optimism decentralizing

Optimism has launched permissionless fault proofs on its OP Mainnet, marking Stage 1 decentralization. This allows users to process withdrawals and challenge invalid transactions without relying on centralized entities. These fault proofs are part of Optimism’s strategy to decentralize and secure its network, aiming to eventually reach Stage 2 where no central authority can alter the blockchain. Arbitrum is working on Stage 2 already.
